What “IRD approved” means, and where Purja stands

Approval is not a badge a software company gives itself. The Inland Revenue Department checks the billing system and lists it for electronic billing.

What matters is what happens when a bill is issued, corrected and printed again.

What the department checks

The IRD's Electronic Billing Procedure sets the behaviour of billing software. Invoice numbers must run in order. An issued bill cannot be edited or deleted. A correction is made with a credit note. A later printing must say COPY. Records and audit details must remain available for inspection.

For shops required to connect to the Central Billing Monitoring System, the software must also send the required bill figures to CBMS. Our CBMS guide explains what is sent.

What a shop should ask

Purja's status, 5 September 2026: Purja is built to the Electronic Billing Procedure and its application for approval is with the department. It is not described as IRD approved until the certificate is issued.

We will replace this status with the certificate and listing details when they are issued.
